Constantine
« on: Friday 10 April 09 02:10 BST (UK) »
I am looking for William Constantine of Scotland.  I think he was born in Glasgow and once lived on Sauchiehall street.  He was born about 1815-1817.  By the 1841 census he was married to Elizabeth and living in Stockport, Cheshire.  Elizabeth was widowed by the 1851 census. He was a silk tophat manufacturer. I would be so grateful If anyone can find his birth and let me know the link so that I can get a birth certificate??

Hi KitKat,

Could this be their marriage?

William Constantine, Vol. 19 Page 227 Stockport, June 1840

And on the same page; Elizabeth Williamson - same details.

The certificate would give fathers' names and occupations.

hume :)

Edit: From a previous thread (dated last month), I notice you have this information. :-[ Think it will be most helpful though in finding William's parents.

Thank You Hume,
I do have the info regarding the marriage of William Constantine and Elizabeth Williamson.  Although, I have not sent off for a certificate yet.
And, no matter how small or repetitive the info is I really appreciate the time that anyone takes to look for it.
Thanks again,
KitKat

A quick search on Scotlands people for a William Constantine born between 1800 and 1820 failed to throw up any matches - reducing the surname to Co*ne did show matches but nothing like Constantine.

As the OPR records held on Scotlands People are the OPR's of the Established Church of Scotland only, it is possible therefore that he was of a different faith or a member of one of the dissenting churches. None of these other records are yet available online.
