Graham's a great name LOL!

Milehouse Cemetery opened in 1871 as an overflow cemetery for Stoke Damerel Church as the churchyard there was full. The Milehouse Cemetery closed in the 1960s when the Electricity Board purchased the site. Im not sure if the cemetery was full then or not, but most likely as Stoke Damerel is such a huge Parish.

The land you mention adjacent to Stoke Damerel Church, (where the headstones are laid flat) is actually the Churchyard for Stoke Damerel Church. At one time the whole area around the church and now nicely grassed was filled row upon row with headstones. They are all now laid flat as paving, or around the wall at the edge.

Tobias is still buried underneath his headstone/memorial at Stoke Damerel.

Graham

On the boundary wall of what used to be The Cardinal Garage - on the junction of North Prospect Road and Segrave Road - (St Levan Road roundabout) - there used to be bolted to the wall a blue placque commemorating Tobias Furneaux.  The Garage has been demolished and the well loved horse chestnut tree close to where this blue placque was situated has been felled.  Around the time of the felling of the tree the blue placque has been removed / disappeared.  The bolt holes are still visible in the red brick wall.
Leading off North Prospect Road are two roads named after Tobias Furneaux - Furneaux Road and Furneaux Avenue.

No, I don't know
Only half of the headtones are laid down at the top of the graveyard.
