1861 - Blackpool - Bampton - Lookup Please (Completed)
« on: Wednesday 08 April 09 04:21 BST (UK) »
Hello,

I am wondering if it would be possible to request a lookup for the following person in the 1861 Census?  He is a Roman Catholic clergyman, possibly living in Blackpool:

Bampton, George Ewsters Leopold born in 1815 in London/Middlesex.

Thanks in advance,

Paula Mc.

Hi Mike,

Many thanks.  It looks like he may have founded "Father Bampton's Poor School" on Talbot Road, Blackpool and so it's likely to be him.

He is the brother of my husband's ancestor Augustus Hamilton Bampton (still looking for AHB in the 1841 but no success).  I do have the stethoscope article and he certainly was interesting.  A sister named Sarah Findlay Bampton may also have converted to RC as she was teaching at a convent in 1851.

I haven't yet discovered the source of all those middle names.

Once again, many thanks and much appreciated.

Paula
