i will write as i sort out the info.here goes.thomas and sophie had 11 children not 10!
thomas of curse was the son of john and harriet.
john appears with his mum and dad in the 1991 cencus aged 17 with a stack of brothers and sisters.before i go any further have i got the right one?oh they are vagain at camp down st austell.i have john born 1874 though aswell as far as i know.where did 1879 come from?does anyone have a certificae to prove his birth date?

The birth in 1879 was the date I got from the 1911 census.

I have now found a John Penfold son of Henry and Fiance b 1878 who could be a possible although he appears to be single.

  The one I have on the  1911 census says he was born in Newton Abbott.  Looks like a cert is going to be the only way to prove this one way or the other.

hello Devonblue, Debs etc, I think I am right in saying there wee other children to this family. Edward and Jenty. This definitly the right John, son of Tomas and Ellen was daughter of James Small
