Ann Wollastone 1815
« on: Sunday 05 April 09 23:17 BST (UK) »
Hi.
My gg-grandfather (Thomas Evans) married  Ann from Ireland (I know this from 1841 & 51 census). I think her surname might be Wollastone as there is a marriage listed on FreeBmd for a Thomas Evans to an Ann Wollastone in 1838 - which fits in to the time frame & location for the birth of their first child. I am now trying to prove this. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can do this?? I've tried looking at a number of Irish websites without success. Not sure If I order the marriage certificate whether it would give the place of birth of mother? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks  ???

Thank you so much for looking at this. It does look as if I can rule out the surname Wollastone for my Ann.

My Thomas and Ann had, I think, only one child. Mary Ann Evans born Birmingham 1841 (2 births registered in Birmingham). It looks as if birth certificate is my next step for finding out Ann's maiden name. Mary Ann's marriage certificate didn't give me any clues other than confirming Thomas as the father.

Where did you find the marriage information for the other Thomas and Ann?Just wondering if its a site that I haven't found yet!!

Thanks again
Tina.

Hi Tina,

I think the kids are correct, I think Thomas born 1798 was the brother of William who was a famous chemist, the other information comes from another person who is also researching the same family line, I will contact them and try and put them in contact with you, I have to use the Ancestery contact service.

I have checked Ann's marriage and you are correct, I think she may also have a sister Mary born to the same parents in the same place and the same timeline.

I will check it out

Brendan
