Thank you Bogga. Another skilful interpretation. I am grateful to you and the other "photo fettlers" for taking the trouble to brighten up Lucy's photo.

I am sure Lucy would be very impressed.

As a child she was regarded as quite a virtuso. Her father was a double bass player. She did not pursue a musical career. She was one of the first telephone operators when Burnley opened its telephone exchange. I remember the same violin was still in her possession when she was in her 70s. When she learnt that St Marys College Blackburn were starting a symphony Orchestra she had no hestitation in donating the violin to enable a pupil to take up the instrument.

Your grandmother looks a very intelligent and self-possessed young lady.

My father (the handsome bu**er) of my avatar, always held strongly to the aim of "making a difference", and in giving away her violin for someone else to learn, your grandmother was evidently of exactly the same opinion.
