I just looked for 1851 census data for John in hopes he may have been mentioned with his grandparents Harding.  I have the 1851 for Harding however he was not in it.  I have not found the data for Thearle.  I will continue to search for 1851 and 1861 and post what I find.

Thank you for your help,
Tish Maynez

I searched and found them in the 1861 census as you'd mentioned in the chat, however the address was eluding me as I searched on current maps of St Pancras.  I found the record with the help you provided, so thank you very much.  They lived at 60 Mecklenburgh Street in St Pancras. (You are right, the handwriting is hard to read.)

Thanks so much for your help, Tricia.

My constant search for information on my Great Great grandfather brought me to your thread regarding Frederic Leake.
This was the name given to him by his mother..he was base born. Frederic dropped the Leake and L, and called himself Frederick Smith.
I have not come across anyone else being called Frederick Leake, and wonder if you know if there were any links to prompt the parents to name him this?
My Frederic was born in Norfolk, but lived his whole life in Bethnal Green.

Smith - Bethnal Green/Hackney
Leake/Smith - Norfolk
Fish - Essex/Middlesex/London

Fredrick Leake Thearle was my great grand uncle.  I do not have information concerning the 'Leake' portion of his name however I am certain it must have some significance.  Thank you for the bit about him changing it to Smith.  That may send us on another direction and help answer some questions.

Your Fredrick was my great grandmother's, Maria Chivers Thearle, brother.  It was difficult tracking down records as she had changed her name to Myra after she married John Wesley.

Any additional information you have is greatly appreciated and I am happy to share data I have as well.

I'm sorry if I may have confused you. My Frederick was baptised Frederic Leake Smith. Born 1800 East Dereham, Norfolk. Mother Susannah Smith.
He never used the name Leake, nor the initial, and was always known as Frederick Smith.
