Hi Geoff,

I expect that's  possible...wish I had a London A to Z....I've only got the Brum one.

Maybe you could do a Map Quest to see how many there are!

Good Luck

Modern London A to Z gives Grafton Roads in NW5 and W3 (besides others in more outlying suburbs).  I think your Grafton Road looks like the wrong one -- I looked down the road and it's all rich families. (It's the Grafton Road near Seven Sisters Road, apparently rich then, but not such a rich area these days.) The other more crowded one is labouring folk, which I think these Chews essentially were. "My" brother of the Ebenezer Chew went off to the East End as a labourer, as did another; the rest seem to have stuck around the train station (Kings Cross) where they arrived in London in the first place...

But I'm keen now to know what they did after arriving in Brum around 1892!  :o

Cheers
Geoff

Thanks Darren

I already know about them: John Baker CHEW and his wife Esther CHEW nee WILSON are my great-great-grandparents and Ebenezer CHEW's parents (E. is the son who moved to Aston). John OLIVER is the son of JB's first child Anne, William Baker CHEW set up his own family in London, and I suspect Janet STEVENS was the illegitimate offspring of one of them as she turns up later as an adopted child of the OLIVERs... and was shipped off back to Northants.

Thanks again
Geoff

Hi Geoff
I live in Australia and I see you are looking for Chew family members. Well, Ebenezer Chew was my great great grandfather. His daughter (my maternal great grandmother) was Caroline Esther, born 14th Mar 1876, died 7th Aug 1962. She married Henry Tudor Rudder on 17th Mar 1897 in Birmingham. His first wife Ellen Whitlock died leaving him with 6 children to raise by himself.

I'd be interested to know where you fit into the family tree. You can look at my family tree in www.ancestry.com    Evans/West/Knight/Vidler/Rudder/Chew I would love to hear from you again and maybe gather more information.

Hi Judy

Yes, I know about Caroline Esther, since I've been in touch with Ron and Velma Rudder in Brisbane, also descendants of hers. Ebenezer's father John Baker Chew, your 3xgreat-grandfather, was my own 2xgreat-grandfather (my great grandfather James Chew was one of Ebenezer's brothers).  Send me your email address and I'll send you a gedcom taking Ebenezer's ancestry back several more generations, or if you prefer, a narrative report of the descent.

Best wishes
Geoff

Hi Geoff
I idly googled Ebenezer Chew as I sometimes do, because my Dad would talk about "old Ebenezer", and your request on rootschat came up.  He was my great, great grandfather through his daughter Lilian.  Let me know if you would still like family information up to the present time.
Best wishes
Rose

Yes, please, Rose - I've only today registered on your reply. I have one generation of Nichollses after Lilian, and would be glad to know about later descendants.
