James Green b. Australia 1894, enlisted in AIF in 1915 and discharged in London in 1920, gve his address as :- 12 New North Rd, Hoxton and mail was received there until 1920 when it was returned as " Not known at this address". On Australian Army records it states that it was a hairdresser's premises.
On the 1911 Census, looking up the street address, the numbers go from 10 to 14, so I wondered what happened to 12? Also, only even numbers are given in the census.
I don't know if it is possible to find out who occupied those premises from about 1917 to1920, I have tried old trade directories with no success.
James Green did not return to Australia and his family, to this day, do not know what happened to him.
If you can shed any light on the address and it's possible occupants at that time, it would be greatly appreciated.
Val.
