Shwmae. I want to learn more about the Ashton family of Pantywaun - in particular, Janette ( b 9-6-1851) & Edward Ashton, & their daughter Sarah.  Sarah married John Rees & they raised a large family at Gypsy Castle.  I am interested in any / all details about them, please - Diolch yn fawr - Hedydd

Hi Heddyd,
I have the Ashton family in 1861 living in Cwm Carno Gelligaer, this is the only Edward Ashton+family that I could find and it is in the right area.

Thomas Ashton (Head)  39 Innkeeper
Ann  Ashton     (Wife)     30
Mary  Ashton  (Daughter) 12
Edward  Ashton  (Son)     10
Choice   Ashton  (Daughter) 6
Ann Ashton        (Daughter)  5
Thomas  Ashton  (Son)  2

Hi, I noticed your posts re: Janette Smith, her brother Joseph b 1855 is my husbands great grandfather. I have been researching the Smith line and i am interested in learning about other family members.

Tassie Lass - Is your Joseph the son of Robert Smith and Sarah Rosser, born Mar Q 1855?. Lived in Pantywaun? My wife has an interest in his eldest sister, Jane, born 20 Jan 1847. I have some information about Robert's parents I would like to compare.

Hi Brentor Boy, yes this is the same family, I think we may have corresponded in the past. I found the will of Joseph Smith which lead us to Jennet and George Jones. I would love to compare where you are now at with Jennet and Robert. As I have not ventured far off the main branch I would love to know who your Jane married. I have changed my email address since we corresponded last. It is now (*)
