BOOTS, John. South Australia 1839
« on: Friday 27 March 09 23:01 GMT (UK) »
John Boots and his wife Charlotte Catt arrived on the COROMANDEL at Adelaide in 1839. It was the first migrant ship to arrive after the declaration of the province. Does anyone have any information about this couple, or any descendants? They were married in Hastings, Sussex, UK in 1836 and I'd hate to think they just fell off the edge of the world! :-[

There are no deaths listed for John and Chalotte in SA.

only a burial for one child

BOOTS Caroline died 7 Oct 1845 Adelaide Dist Ade 1 36. She is listed as aged 7 Months father John

There is also no entry in the BISA. I expect they moved on.

Thank you all! Yes, I knew it was 1837 ... I'm just a little tired! I am always amazed at how helpful you all are in Australia. I'll follow these leads tomorrow (er ... today) when the sun comes back to the UK and I get out of bed.
