Wilpshire Orphanage 1900
« on: Thursday 26 March 09 20:33 GMT (UK) »
My Grandfather William Eccles b 8th June 1891 at 129 Boxwood Street Backburn was a Guest at Wilpshire Orphanage in 1900 along with his brother David.
I believe that left after being taken on by a farmer in the Guide area of Blackburn and after suffering an accident they where enlisted in Army during World War One his papers coming through on the 9th December 1915.
Due to his slight invalidity he served as a driver in the Transport Service Corps based in Abberville
If anyone has any info re Wilpshire or his WW1 service or  a direction in which I can find out more this would be much appreciated
cheers
Daveey
