Translation anybody please

There is rather a lot, I tried the online translations but they were less than usless.

It starts with: "DANIEL GRONOW. Aelod gwreiddiol o'r Mynyddbach, ger Abertawy, ydoedd. Derbyniwyd ef i athrofa Caerfyrddin yn y flwyddyn 1757, a bu yno dair blynedd."

and ends with  "Mab iddo ef oedd Joseph Gronow, a addysgwyd yn yr athrofa yn Ngwrecsam, a urddwyd yn Weedon, yn swydd Northampton, yn Ebrill, 1797, ac a fu farw yn dra ieuangc."

I'm trying to see if there is a blood connection between the two.

My welsh is not great - but I can pick out a few words

Aelod gwreiddiol = original/founding member
Derbyniwyd ef i athrofa Caerfyrddin = accepted to seminary/institute of education in Carmarthen.
yn y flwyddyn 1757 = in the year 1757
dair blynedd = three years
mab = son
addysgwyd yn yr athrofa yn Ngwrecsam = educated in the seminary/institute of education in Wrexham.
urddwyd = inaugurated
Ebrill 1797 = April 1797
ac a fu farw = and who died
dra = very

I'm sure someone can probably do better

Yes, they were related.

Joseph was Daniel's son.

"Daniel Gronow.  He was a founding member from Mynyddback near Abertawy (I guess Swansea).  Accepted into Camarthen athrofa (college/university??) in 1757, and he was there for 3 years."

"Joseph Gronow was his son, who was educated in college/university in Wrexham.  <Urddwyd>, in Weedon in Northamptonshire, in April 1797, and died very young."

Not sure on the meaning of 'urddwyd'.  Could be honoured or graduated....

I know Joseph's youngest child was baptised in 1813 and if he was about 22 when he graduated in 1797 then he was about 38. cannot find a burial yet for him, just dosen't seem to tie in with "and died very young".

Hi Gwerninion,

If I remember rightly, the word "dra" can also be used as the conjunction "while", so perhaps the meaning in this case is "....died while young".
