I doubled checked
And I can trace back to James Lamb 1780 and Mary Raferty(Rafhey) 1783-1850
Who had Michael Peter Lamb 1809-1874 who married Margaret Mc Ardle 1811-1880 who had Patrick Lamb 1829-1896 married Bridget  Victory 1834-1906 they had Peter Lamb 1855 who married Ellen Earl 1861 and I can follow back to me from there but can't go past James 1780 and Mary Raferty 1783-1850  and Ellen Earl 1861 that line stops too.
I'm not computer savvy but just trying to trace for medical reasons and h sure where to  form here.
Any help greatly appreciated or hints and tips
Regards Cherie

Hi Cherie,

If those names you have put up.......

"Michael Peter Lamb 1809-1874 who married Margaret Mc Ardle 1811-1880 who had Patrick Lamb 1829-1896 married Bridget  Victory 1834-1906 they had Peter Lamb 1855 who married Ellen Earl 1861 and I can follow back to me from there but can't go past James 1780 and Mary Raferty 1783-1850  and Ellen Earl 1861 that line stops too."

.....were not in New Zealand, you should consider putting up a request in Rootschat England* to make your enquiries.

*Or Scotland, whichever is appropriate.

This is a difficult one. At least I have found mention of the McDonald Mine.

Hi again.

If you have found this post when researching for information about McDonald's Mine, I have grabbed a couple of recent articles that are yet to be covered by PAPERSPAST.

There is/was winable coal under most of the greater Huntly district. With various mining operations either side of the Waikato River. One mine even extending under the river with pit heads on both sides.

Further west there were more mines some being large, to feed industries including the Huntly Power station.  McDonald's mine, I believe, was a smaller one, managed for many years by the Glen Afton Coaleries. Not long after leaving school, I went down one of the privately owned smaller workings, with a group of farming lads. Not too far away was an opencast mine leased by farming relatives.

Thankyou for taking the time to reply.

I did have other Family who worked in the mines and my Great Uncle Jerry still involved in one way or another.

Just no one to actual ask history but I plan to  go to Huntly and check out any records they hold

Thanks again
