Hi,

Glad you had success. Strangely my lot came from Ireland as well!  If you come across and Andrew Alexander McNab, son of Alexander McNab and Annie Hamilton think of me as they are proving very hard to trace.  My other Irish relations are impossible to find due to their illiteracy when they arriven in 1865 and the many different ways names have been written over the years.

Best wishes

Linda

I certainly will

Funny enough, one of my late mothers uncle's was Alex McNab who played for Greenock Morton back in the early 1920's when they won the Scottish Cup. Another Uncle " John " became a scout for Aberdeen. My own grandfather " Donald " was a welder in the Shipyards all his days, but their own father was Alexander McNab from Greenock, great grandfather was also Alex McNab as well as my great great grandfather !!!!!, strange but certainly not related to the McNab's from across the Clyde.

Now I am confused. My McNabs come from Greenock but the maternal grandparents stayed in Strachur and my granny and all her siblings lived there for some time.  Could there be a connection?
I have Andrew Alexander, son of Alexander, grandson of Alexander and great grandson of Alexander.  I know they weren't imaginative with names but....

Regards

Linda
ps I've supported Morton all my life as did my grandparents!

Very interesting Linda

My McNabs side came from around Drumfrochar Road/Wemyss Bay Street area going a long way back. There were other McNab's from the same area but i dont know if they were in anyway related

Linda,

Just a quick one

My grandfather was Donald McNab, he was married to Annie Bonar McNab, she died during childbirth in 1939 in Greenock, i managed to find her resting place before my late mother passed away. I think Donald ( or Dougie ) as we called him his middle name was McVean.

He brought up 3 daughters, my mother Elizabeth Catherine McNab, Sarah McNab and Christina McNab ?

Good morning cousin!  Donald McVean McNab was my Granny's youngest brother and they lived in Wemyss Bay Street!  That means your mother was my father's cousin, amking you and I cousin's of some sort!
You clearly have more info on the McNabs than I do and I'd really like to talk to you about it.  Are you interested in Donald McVean McNab's mother's family?  I have a bit of info on them.

Please email me on my private email (*).  If you let me have a phone number I can call you.  I live on the outskirts of Edinburgh.

Linda
