Wrekenton - Potts Buildings.
« on: Monday 23 March 09 20:42 GMT (UK) »
Does anyone know where Potts Building are or were please?
Possibly at Eighton Banks.

My family lived in these buildings c. 1900's.
An ancestress died there in 1912.

The Godfrey map for Wrekenton is out of print.
Any help appreciated.
Thank you.
frek nee Potts!

My understanding is that Pott's Buildings were opposite the Quarryman's Arms Pub and Bainbridge Buildings in Eighton Banks, just above Rockcliffe Way. Both the Quarryman's Arms and the Bainbridge Terrace still exist today - if you use a modern day map - or Google Earth, you should be able to locate either of these buildings.

Thank you for the information.
I have often wondered if the buildings were named Potts Buildings because so many of the family lived there   - and there were a few - or if it was the actual `given` name for the Buildings.
