1940s cine home film mystery content
« on: Monday 23 March 09 09:26 GMT (UK) »
I have found a mystery black and white 8mm cine film from around the 1940s that have people in it that are unknown?. Perhaps someone on this site may know who they are and where the footage was shot?. The film has been debated on digital spy for the past 2 months or so and people seem to think the footage is of the south coast perhaps around the Southsea and portsmouth area but we could be way off the mark!. My aim is to re-unite the film with it's relatives and can be viewed on YOUTUBE by searching 'unknown mystery boat trip' or finding my I.D as 'indiadog1'. Have a look at my other family history home movies at the same time, someone may know somebody in the films!. :-\

Fascinating stuff. Most of my family are from the Portsmouth area although I couldn't recognise anything that would say it was specifically from there! Except, did I get a quick sight of one the old Napoleonic forts in the Solent? Also that could have been the Grand Hotel in Southsea, difficult to say though.

Hi indiadog1

That's a great film which should bring back many childhood memories to some people 8)

The unidentified people may have been on holiday from another part of the UK.

May the link be posted on other sites ??? I'd be delighted to add unknown holiday makers in the 1940s to a list of searches which include an unknown Belfast lady who kept a baby elephant (belonging to the Belfast Zoo) in her back yard during WWII, accommodation for a Bath Choir who wish to visit Belfast, a new venue for a dance class and old broken musical instruments for a charity jamming tent which hopes to visit outdoor festivals this summer.
