LMA Archives on Ancestry - "Here Now !"
« on: Monday 23 March 09 08:56 GMT (UK) »
I think maybe the suggestion of April for the date of the first release of the LMA archives may be correct !

Ancestry now has a full page feature on the LMA archives on their site, emblazened with a "Coming Soon" sticker at the top of the page !  8)

You're very lucky - in the few years that I've been researching my tree, I've done very well with my mother's side of the family, who mainly came from Somerset and Suffolk.  However, my dad's side, who were all from the parts of Kent & Hertfordshire which are now part of Greater London, are a different story.  I've come to a complete brick wall at 1800.  Hopefully the LMA records may help me to break through  :)

I don't have ancestors FROM London as such, but I have a few that lived and worked there...will the LMA be useful to me for this?

For example, my GGGG-Grandmother was a nurse (back in 1861ish) in London, would love to be able to find out more about her...

Quite possibly......

"In total there are seven different types of records: Parish Records, Bishops' Transcripts, Non-Conformist Registers, Electoral Registers, School Admission and Discharge Registers, Parish Poor Records and the Land Tax plus other more unfamiliar collections such as Boards of Guardians (which is the late 19th and early 20th century records including workhouses, asylums and special schools), wills from the church courts of the Dioceses of London and Winchester, transportation sessions, Diocesan marriage bonds, allegations and divorce exhibita as well as City of London Freedoms. So it might just be worth taking out some sort of a sub again then with ancestry  ::) ;D

But I might wait a bit yet though.
