Hi Ian, I forgot to say I found your family in Madron in 1851 census, rather than Paul as in 1841. Sailors wife, certainly sounds more like Navy or Merchant Navy than the normal fisherman, although not having gone down this road myself, but think you should be able to find naval records, somewhere?

Probably in the Spring, I am hoping to go down to Cornwall & look at Parish records as I am at the brick wall stage & can only go wider within my family rather than longer. If you would like to private message me, when I know I am going I'll contact you & would be happy to do a look up or two for you.

Borlase certainly does seem to have some interesting connections & what I find interesting with families from this part of Cornwall is just how inter connected they all were.

Hello Ian,

I have your e-mail now & will send mine onto you later & as Spring is some time away will e-mail you then, to see where you are in your search.

Incredable to have a grandmother who is a 104, I too was brought up with many Cornish family tales from my grandmother who lived to the megre age of 97 ;)

My interest is in both Geneology & local & social history & as so I am also interested in local families, looking at the name Borlase, their certainly were some important Cornish men with this name one who wrote a book, another was a Sir & a vicar in Madron with this name too.

I have also started a thread about my brick walls from this part of Cornwall & if you come across any possible info about my families in your search, could you please also let me know too.
