James Green

I am trying to trace to establish what happened to James Green b. 1885 in South Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.
He enlisted in the AIF in 1915, served in France & Egypt, and after a less than salubrious army career, was discharged in London in 1920.
Pte. James Green, No. 600, C. Company, 22nd Battalion AIF.
His last known address was  :- 12 New North Rd,  Hoxton,  London in 1920.
To the family's knowledge, he never returned to Australia.

You may find him in the electoral rolls at that address, at least for a year or two. So a post in the London section may be the place to start. Other than that you are a bit suck given the common name, and the lack of a middle name. I don't think there is a military solution. Even if he re-enlisted in the 1920s you need to supply a copy of his death certificate with any application to the MOD. They still have the papers for men discharged after 1920.

It will be hard tracking down any marriage or his death. At least the index to deaths gives the age. You will have to prepare yourself for spending a fair bit of money though.

Maybe it is a job for Genes Reunited or similar site, hoping to find a relative.
