Back again

I do apologise that I am asking lots of questions but I just want to make sure that you are not going off on the wrong road.
I'l just post the link re your post re Herbert so that it makes it easier for people to see what we are talking about.
http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,369377.msg2443425.html#msg2443425I can see his marriage on Free BMD -Chorley district 1906.
Have you got the certificate?
Is there definitely no father named for Herbert?
Have you checked the 1911 census? Does that say Ashton Under Lyne too? (Just that I can't see him in 1901 at the moment)
I have looked at the 1911 indexes and can see Nancy and Herbert I think but it doesn't show birthplace until you pay. I have tried with Ashton and it fits (Ashton under Lyne didn't show).
As a miner, or looking for work, you can understand that Herbert would move for work but there is also Ashton in Makerfield which is about 10 miles from Wigan (rather than about 30 miles (Standish to Ashton under Lyne).
I'm sorry if I am on the wrong thing altogether here and I am hoping that you have the information re Herbert.
I must add though that at the moment the Herbert you mention is the only one born 'Ashton' in census and that is only in 1891
Added: Think I have found Herbert in 1901 transcribed as 'Hood' and place of birth Ashton under Lyme instead of Lyne 1901 RG13; Piece: 3801; Folio: 204; Page: 3
