Looking for Grandparents of John Henry Sleep born 1858 Bridestown Devon.

His parents are as you say John Sleep & Sarah Wood, he was with his
mothers parents in 1861 census she died in 1860. It is his father Johns father that Iam looking for.

did you get John Henry Sleep, bn 1858's birth cert?

What did that say about his parents? and what address etc etc?
Give us all you know about his father as a first step to finding his grandfather!

Was his mother Grace Wood? If so, I found the marriage on previous thread. Getting the marriage cert will give fathers name of the groom (groom being John Henry's dad ... if that was the right marriage .... but that will depend on what birth cert said!)

Yes his mother was Grace Wood she died June 1860 his father John then went to sea. Icant get marriage cert as I dont know tha grooms
John fathers name that is why Iam after it. I dont even know the date of Johns birth.

You wont need the grooms father's name to get the marraige cert - in fact you will be getting the cert to find the grooms father's name!

You will just need the year, quarter, registration distr and ref no, and I believe I have them all on the other thread.

Hopefully the marriage cert will give Johns father's name and occupation. If you are lucky it will give an age for John, and addresses - but anything will be a help at this stage.
