White - Dublin > Nottingham > Manchester
« on: Tuesday 17 March 09 10:30 GMT (UK) »
Joseph White was born c.1851 in Dublin, Ireland and was a framework knitter.
He married Hannah Mooney (born c. 1849).

Between 1878-1881 they settled in Nottingham, where they remained at least until 1911.  Their children were:
Michael (c. 1874, Dublin) married Elizabeth Davies.  They had four daughters all born in Nottingham: Kate, Edith May, Grace, and Alice Lilian.
Joseph Patrick (c.1875, Dublin) married Mary Shaw in Manchester where they had Sydney, Agnes, Mary, Robert, John Henry and Rose Annie.
John (c.1878, Balbriggan, Dublin) may have married Emma Wilkie Dixon in Nottingham.
   James (c.1881, England)
   Albert (c.1886, Nottingham)

I am descended from Joseph Patrick via his son John Henry.

Hi

Joseph White of 7 Plunket Street, Dublin son of John & Rosanna White (m) Hannah Mooney of 69 Bride Street, dau of James & Catherine Mooney at St Nicholas RC Church, Dublin, on 12 June 1873.  Date looks right for this couple to have their first child in 1874.

Cheers

Not really sure why, but I've only just seen this!

Indeed, I believe it is Joseph and Hannah's marriage.  It was registered and I have the marriage certificate - which doesn't show their mother's names so this is great.  Indeed the Dublin board were very helpful in locating the addresses: http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,376380.0.html

Where did you find the information?  Are they transcribed online somewhere?  I'd like to look for siblings getting married from either address (with Mooney and White being fairly common names, the addresses and mothers can help me to distinguish), and baptisms.  And of course I now have to begin the search the mothers' maiden names etc.  How exciting!

Out of interest, why was this moved to the Beginners Board rather than left in the One-Name boards?

Thanks

Probably because you are looking for a particular family rather than studying a certain surname- "For discussions about researching all occurrences of a single name in a specified area."

Where did you find the information?  Are they transcribed online somewhere?
It is annoying when people don't post links or even say the source, isn't it?
Here's the marriage but you can use the site to search for lots more!

Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!
