« on: Monday 16 March 09 21:39 GMT (UK) »
Hi all just wondering if anyone knows anything of the Woods family from Newry, father James Woods married Mary hanratty he was born circa 1815 had 3 sons that I know of, Bernard, James, Felix.
Bernard was born 1848 Benagh, Newry and married Margaret grant from Ryan, they came to Scotland (Coatbridge to be exact) around 1871, father James, brother James and Felix also came to Scotland. I would be grateful for any information.

Kate ;) ;)

thank you for looking but already had that was looking for more info about his father James who married Mary Hanratty I'm guessing the date would be about 1845 or there abouts, been a total nightmare looking for people in Ireland, not just with the records lots of people with the same names ha ha can only keep looking.

thanks again

Hi Katy,
I think that this is my family. I'm afraid all I know is that Bernard and Margaret came over to Scotland then at some point Bernard went to the US (I think). I have a picture of him taken in Brooklyn in 1911. I also know That his son (my great grand father) Thomas Joseph Woods went to America for a short short stay in  Dec 1922/Jan1923. Also on my great grand fathers marriage certificate it states that Margaret remarried a house factor called John Lomax.  I share your pain with searches in Ireland, they are quite costly and vague. I got a summary of Bernard and Margarets  marriage certificate on-line listing James Woods and Edward Grant as there respective fathers.

Best Wishes
Tom
