My ancestors, the Webbs, were there from the late 18thC. Does anyone have anything about the place and/or the family?
Gadd,Moss, Southall,Robinson,Thompson,Wootton,Liviter. Birmingham, Ireland, Cumbria, Yorkshire, Isle of Man.

This isn't about the inn at he time your ancestors were there; but you might still find it interesting.
It has details of sales particulars in 1912:

Bagshaw's directory of 1851 lists a John Webb as landlord.
Kelly's directory of 1895 lists a John Webb as landlord and farmer.
