thomas worthington from Montgomereyshire
« on: Sunday 15 March 09 16:28 GMT (UK) »
Hello there,

I am wondering if anyone has any info on a Thomas Worthington born somewhere between 1786 and1809(!) in Montgomereyshire. He definitely appears on the 1851 and 1861 census in England(Stepney,London/Middlesex) and possibly on the 1841(Stepney).I also have a death cert for him(Stepney)-each of these sources gives a different date for his birth...

I also know from his marriage cert, that his father was a farmer called William. He married Elizabeth Arnett in 1842, but was a widower, so had been married before-possibly in Wales?

It seems as if I have a fair amoount of info already, I know- but I really need to find out more about his origins and previous marriage. There seems to have been a Worthington family in Trefyglwys, but not sure if he was connected to them?

If anyone can shed any light on the mysterious Thomas, I would be very grateful!

Thanks for looking, at any rate!

Sarah

Hi Sarahcat.

I don't really have any information on Thomas Worthington but I think my family is connected to the Worthingtons you mentioned in Trefyglwys.
Maybe we could find a connection between us.
Thanks Paul

Hello Paul,

Thanks for getting in touch and many apologies-feel rotton that haven't replied before-have just been so busy-not a chance to have a look at your reply before now.
Perhaps we can find a connection-wish I could be sure that Thomas came from Trefyglwys....Are there any Williams in your Worthington family?Thomas' father was William. What about the dates-are thet around the same time i.e. late 1700s early 1800s?

Best wishes,
Sarah

Hi -
I also have Worthington in my line back to UK.  I have a Catharine Susannah Davison Worthington who married William Johnstone Saint Pancras London in  1823.  William was an upholsterer.  Catharine and William had 2 sons and 4 daughters including a daughter named Ann Maria Davison Worthington Johnstone.  The family lived around Essex (chelmsford).

Hi Sarah,

I am new to this family history forum and have just found your post about Thomas Worthington (b ~1809 in Montgomeryshire). He is my great, great grandfather on my father's side, so we might be distantly related?! Have you found out anything more about him? I am new to all this, so just trying to work out the best place to start...
I have quite a bit of information on my Worthington family history post 1840 if you are interested?

Best wishes,

Sophie
