Help!

I got a surprise, I sent for my GGGrandads death cert.
John Orchard b 1836 s/o Edward & Christiana Orchard nee Woodley Hunt

John Orchard married Sarah Jane James 1856.Offwell.Devon

His death cert said the informant was his son GEORGE ! present at death. Roborough Moor.

Well I know John & Sarah had children
Henry b 1856 G.Grandad
Mary Ann b 1859 d 1859
Harriett b 1860 m Ned Spargo
Joseph b 1863 m Susan Muston
Thomas b 1865 m?
William b 1869 m Christina?

But WHO is GEORGE? or who is known as George?

are there more children than I know of?

Hi Maggie

I have looked at the censuses but cannot find a George. I wonder if he could possibly be a grandson? When did John b 1836 die?

There does seem to be other children to John and Sarah.

In 1891 they are in Fore Down, St Cleer, Cornwall
John, 55 and Sarah 54 have these children
Harriet 30
Thomas 26
William 22
Rachel 18 dau
Sally 13 dau
all children are single.

I can't see Rachel or Sally in the 1881 census 

Here's a possible marriage for William born 1869

William Orchard = Christiana Penfold
Mar q 1898
St Austell Cornwall

GUESS WHAT?? ...Christiana Penfold is my Great grandfather , William Penfold, his SISTER!!
they are both the children of Thomas Penfold(1841) who married Sophia Orchard (b 1846)

in 1891 census Rachel & Sally are not Orchards but Hollands
they are with John & sarah in 1881 census killing lane.Chapel allerton.Somerset

John died 19 Jan 1894

William o & Christina p/f b grampound.

Thomas Penfold m Sophia Orchard their son Edwin married  John Orchards Grandaughter
Mary Ann Orchard .b 1882 Watchfield somerset.She was Johns son Henrys daughter
Henry married Priscilla Penfold who is in the 1881 census with John & Sarah.

I hope your computer can work out our relationship cause my brain can't

and George does'nt seem like a family name ?

So have i missed some children?

and do you know anything about Thomas o b 1865?

Do you know where Sarah Jane Orchard(james) is buried or when she died?

The James are my brick wall!

b 1888 compton Marldon.Devon if she is the right Penella?

i thought josiah b.1886 in glastonbury somereset married nellie james in nov 1913 in cardiff glam.wales?i have him as henry and prsicilla penfolds son.  my brick walls are also the james but i have found an old auntie still alive and she is starting to fill me in a bit now.her line comes down from william james.there were so many william james i am having a job to get my head round it at the moment.will report back when i work it out.cathayb

Henry & Priscillas son Josiah m Penella James(nellie )1913 Glamorgan.

I always tie my self in knots with the Orchards

Still wondering who George is  the informant for John Orchards death 1894 ?

Deb thought he might be a grandson but george is'nt a family name.

Still looking to find out more about Henry O brother Thomas 1865ish.

i dont know about him either.got him in 1871,1881,1891 with his perants.funny thing is he was born in stogusey somerset where i live now!!!!!small world.we must be related in someway.i will try and work out how.
right edwin orchard and elizabeth penfold had a daughter charlotte orchard who married bejamin orchard.they had george born around 1900.the other george was born 1934 to joseph orchard and defiance packman.thats the only georges i have.again though i will contact ian orchard and see what he knows about some georges in the family line.i do know george is a family name though i just havent followed through on any of them yet.i will get back to you when i hear from ian.

It was Ian told me where John was buried many years ago! he has a very nice
headstone. But his wife is not buried with him! or not on his headstone!

So how are we related? how of the many ways are we related?(hee hee)

I have a question about Coopers & Packman but i need to look something up first!!

the 1st George son of Charlotte &  Benjamin O would he not have been too young to
be informant on Johns Death cert if john died 1894 ?

 the other George was definitly not around then!
