If someone were operating a business would there be a record kept as to who they employed ?

I have an 1894 directory to hand and it shows the same details as the 1914 entry.. so it would appear the business was in operation at the same address for at least 20 years :

  56 Clanbrassil St Upr

I dont think records for many small businesses would have survived - unless they happened to be passed down with family documents etc.

just to confirm that James is also listed at the Clanbrassil St Upr address in Thom's 1904.

No sign of the business at that address earlier in 1884, or later in 1927
