I see Samuel in the 1861 census (indexed as Samuel J H SHERLING) living in Silton Dorset with his aunt Charlotte Stone b abt 1842 in Silton, unmarried, linen weaver.
I think he is listed as Highmore SHERRING in 1871 living in Gillingham, Dorset with George Fricker, butcher, wife Christiana Fricker, b abt 1832 in Silton, Dorset and their children ages 8 - 13. Highmore SHERRING is listed as 'wife's son'
I cannot see him in 1881.
In 1861 Emily SHERRING is with her parents, John and Elizabeth and sister Blanch in Great Faringdon, Oxfordshire.
In 1871 (mistranscribed as SHERVEY) she is a boarder at Linden House, St Mary, Reading ('Ladies school')
In 1881 she is governess to the Swabey family in Great Faringdon, living at the Vicarage - Mr Swabey is the curate.
She is not in later censuses.
