Sorry Mods!  I should have realised.....  blood rushed to the head when I finally got that elusive lead!   :-\
Ireland - Londonderry (Clark, Ramsay), Galway (Simcocks), Donegal (Walker, Colquohoun), Down (Wright, McCracken, Spence), Monaghan (Little)
England - Durham (Storey), Tipperary (Horan), Cornwall (Bowden, Arthur), Somerset (Simcocks)
Scotland - Angus (Ramsay), Fife (Watson, Laing), Rafford (Crow), Monaghan (Carson)
All these families branches ended up in Australia at some point.

Hi Kel

I'm so sorry and don't know what happened in the interim but I came across this tonight and assume that you didn't hear back from me all those years ago! I hope you get this message. We have done a lot more research on the Clarkes since my last contact. Hope I hear back from you.

I have a William  Clarke from Ballymulderg but I don't have his wife's name. He is a bit young to be David Ramsay Clarke's father. William was baptised Dec 6, 1812 to Anthony Clarke and Mary Duncan. So would be only 22 when David was born and if David had an older brother John....Alicia is a family name and she may have been David's grandmother, if David belongs to William, son of Anthony.
Just a thought.

Lots more information online since this thread was started. Here's death registration for above William Clarke- informant was son William.

Hello again,
Looking at the death of William in 1884, therefore born 1795, if age 89 at death. Agewise, PERHAPS he is a brother to Anthony Clarke who was born abt 1788 and died Sept 8, 1862 in Ballymulderg. I have Anthony's mother as POSSIBLY Alicia aka Ally. This William is a better age to be David Ramsay Clarke's father. Do you know when David Ramsay Clarke's sister Alice was born? I have an unconnected Alice Clarke born 1827 with father William who married Samuel Richey in 1854. This may  be your David's sister. There may be a connection here.
Anthony's first son is William baptised 1812, so  his father could also have been William, using the naming pattern. Anthony has a son David who died a bachelor in 1897.
