Clogg. Bodey, Moss or Moses
« on: Wednesday 11 March 09 17:22 GMT (UK) »
Hi Everyone
I have just started doing my family tree. I am looking for any information anyone may have on the Clogg family, also Bodey family particularly Elizabeth Bodey who married George  Andrew Clogg back in 1865, I think it was. The Cloggs and Bodeys were originally from Devon, around Barnstaple and Heanton Punchardon. They were however married in St.Giles, Strand, London. They lived in the Peabody Building.

Many thanks

It seems you have some info already - so it sould be helpful to know exactly what you have before anyone starts hunting around too much, to avoid dupication.

E.g. Do you have them on all / any censuses? Have you found the marriage you mention - have you got the marriage cert? - I guess so , as you know where it took place. Therefore what info did that reveal? - names and occupations of fathers for instance.
With an age for Eliz Bodey and these details of her father we may be able to get her on a census pre marriage - if you dont already have this.
Edmonds/Edmunds - mainly Sussex
DeBoo - London
Green - Suffolk
Parker - Sussex
Kemp - Essex
Farrington - Essex
Boniface - West Sussex

Hi lizdb
You are correct. I do have some information. George Andrew Clogg and Elizabeth Clogg nee Bodey were my great grandparents. I am not in posession of their wedding cert but I do know the folio and page number. So...I will order that and see what it brings up. It is just that I do not seem to be able to find Elizabeth on earlier census. I would just like to find her family...mother, father, and bros and sisters. I am following the Clogg side of the family at the moment. I have found George Andrew Cloggs' mother and sister (Mary and Winifred) but I do not seem to be able to find his father. Sorry this is all a bit vague, as I have all the dates, census etc at work.
I will get the wedding cert and take it from there.
Many thanks for your comments
Have a good evening

Hi,

A belated welcome to RootsChat :)

You might have all the info you need by now, but just in case :)

Birth
George Andrew CLOGG    Mar Q 1861    Barnstaple    5b  547

Marriage
George Andrew CLOGG    Dec Q 1884    St Giles    1b  947
Elizabeth BODEY with same details.

In the 1891 and 1901 census Elizabeth is born 1864/1865 Landkey Devon and George Andrew is born 1862 Wrafton Devon.

I think this could be Elizabeth,
