I'm not sure which is George in the 1851 census.

Do you have his marriage cert showing father's name and occupation?

No but his father was William born abt 1790 and mother Ann and they would have been living around the Bedlington/ Seghill/Blyth area

May I ask how you know his parents' names?  If from the IGI, you still need his marriage cert to be sure that's the right baptism. If it's the baptism in Shilbottle, 1833 with parents William and Ann, Shilbottle is abt 15 miles from where George says he was born (Netherton on 1861 census)
There's also a member-submitted entry (not from parish records) on the IGI for a George Davison Hindmarsh bapt abt 1832 Bedlington, but no further information

Very difficult to pinpoint them, as I can't see a George with parents in 1851, nor with a William and Ann in 1841 in that area

I see George has died by 1871 and Mary remarried, so no further information on his birthplace.

Marriage cert seems the only way really, for his father's name and occupation

Kind regards
Barbara

Hi all,

I think there might be some confusion about which Netherton George was born in, Barbara.

Nedderton Village alongside Netherton Colliery is a stone's throw from Bedlington.  The confusion can be caused by the fact that a lot of locals used to pronounce 'dd' as 'th'.  As an example my mother in law always said Withrington instead of Widdrington.

I would look closer to Bedlington
