Hi Christine

No I'm not confused (well no more than usual)  :)

Without more detail from Richard, it's impossible to know which, there is only the 1861 Netherton birthplace to go on.  I did assume George was born at the one near Bedlington, but as I said, that is 15 or so miles from Shilbottle - the baptism location for the George Hindmarch on the IGI with parents William and Ann, so waiting for confirmation of where Richard got the parents' information from before going any further.

I would look closer to Bedlington

I did spend quite some time looking, - there are a couple of possible Georges but not living at home, unless the parents are not William & Ann - again, confirmation needed from marriage cert really.

I was just looking at the possibility of the other Netherton (earlier post amended to make this clearer) when I saw that the only suitable William (with wife Ann) was born at Alwinton.  There don't seem to be any William & Anns with son George in the Bedlington area, 1841/1851 - unless you can find them?

It is a puzzle why the '61 entry is so appropriate to the circumstances outlined by Richard and yet there is nothing to link up with it in '51.  I've tried all manner of lateral thinking, as I'm sure you have, and still got nowhere.  That's why I thought sticking to Bedlington with the info on 1861 would be the best start.

Well I think the reason is that if Richard got the parents from the IGI baptism, it  possibly isn't the right one.  Will just wait for Richard's comments, and further details from certificates etc. as one census entry isn't enough to go on in this case, I'm afraid.
