John Davies

Hi everyone,a friend of mine is searching her family tree,the info that she gave me is from the family bible,her gggrandfather was John Davies,dont know when he was born,had a guess around 1840.

When his son got married in 1887 he was on the marriage cert.as deceased,is it's also possible to have David's other siblings please.

The son's name was David b.9th June 1866 Abercych,married Anna Jones b.01-01-1865,married 1st Nov 1887,now the interesting bit comes,John Davies left his wife and children,to look for his fortune in America,and to sent money back to the UK for his family.

At some time he came back to Wales with a new family,not divorced from his first wife,the family turned their backs on him,and John went back to the USA.

After he went back to the States, they heard that he'd been shot and later died of his wounds,any info on John Davies would be most grateful.

Do you have access to the marriage cert of 1887? If so, what occupation is given for John? What address and occupation are given for David? We're dealing with very common Welsh names here, so need as much info as possible. Do the witness names help?

Although the registration district is Cardigan, Abercych, in the parish of Manordeifi, is in Pembrokeshire.

Hi osprey,I cant make out the time of residency,it looks like for David, Trecarren and she was from Pont-Sally.

John was a collier, but on the marriage cert he is down as deceased.
David was a Timber Carver.
Witnesses at the time of marriage were Thomas Owens and Elizabeth Jones.

John Davies had gone to Klondicke in Canada and not to the USA as stated above,sorry for the confusion.

when I read timber carver I remembered seeing a David with father John in Manordeifi who were both wood turners. Only problem - when I checked 1891 he was still at home with his parents and unmarried.

The David & Anna I had found with David born Manordeifi doesn't seem to match as he is a gardener in 1891 and gamekeeper in 1901. Is this the right family?

possible for David as a farm servant in household of John Thomas RG11/5429 folio 85 pg 1

Only marriage for a Rachel Davies to another Davies between 1861 & 1871 registered Cardigan is
Rachel Davies sept qtr 1862 Cardigan vol 11b pg 12 with John Davies the only other name on the page

Hi there my first posting here, whilst trawling through google for information about Manordeifi and Llangunnor, I came across this forum. The above mentioned family are the same people in my family tree that I have been researching. Would be glad to pass information to anyone requiring it.
