William Curtis 1863 - Gamekeeper- suspicious circumstances of death
« on: Friday 06 March 09 16:58 GMT (UK) »
Can anyone help me to find out when William Curtis returned to South Carlton , Lincolnshire and how he was accidentally poisoned with Strychnine ?
He was born in 1863 in Saxlingham Thorpe, Norfolk.
He married Anne Ellen Edwards in in 1885 in Oswestry Shropshire
In 1891 he was a gamekeeper in New Houghton, Norfolk and in 1901 still a gamekeeper in Shirley, Derbyshire.
He died 10 Dec 1909 in South Carlton and his job was an agricultural labourer formerly gamekeeper. The death cert says he died of accidental poisoning by strychnine. An inquest was held on 11 Dec 1909 in Lincoln North district.
I would like to know where he was working when he died and what actually happened, if possible. :'(
I am also having difficulty tracking his wife and children after his death. I can not find any of the unmarried ones on 1911 census nor his wife.
Can anyone help with this? ???
Cheers

Your best bet is to track down the inquest in one of the old newspapers. I would take a look at the Lincoln, Rutland and Stamford Mercury.

Check out http://newsplan.liem.org.uk/default.asp to find out which archives have Lincolnshire's old newspapers.

For that we would need to know their names, ages, birthplace and last known location(s)

Thanks everyone.
I will try to track down the newspapers.
Themother is Anne Ellen (nee Edwards) born 1862 in Berghill, Whittington, Owestry, Salop.

James William was married in 1908.

Dora Annie married in 1912 and in 1911 was a domestic servant in Bulwell Notts.

The ones I can't track in 1911 are

Frederick married in 1912 in Bulwell Nottingham, but I can't find him on 1911 census - born 1888 Cotton, Whittington, Oswestry Salop.

Frank 10/01/1897 -1969 born in Fingley Alvely, Bridgnorth, Salop.

William 1898 born in Fingley Alvely, Bridgnorth, Salop.

Violet Veronica 1900 Bridgnorth, Salop.

and then there is  Robert Tom 1903 Calton on Trent, Sothwell, Notts.

Thanks again for your help.

I think that's supposed to be Carlton on Trent, Southwell, Notts.
