i am looking for my grandfathers uncle edwin nutt
born in 1900 in bristol he married i  think an ada powles in 1925 newport

Found  marriage Edwin H Nutt =m= Hilda A Powles
Year 1925 Newport Monmouth vol-11a page-425 Qtr 4th.
Suggest you send for certificate may give you an idea about the area they first lived also  sometimes family members are witnessess.Just a thought hope this is helpful
