Barnstaple Regn District up to 1894, then Pilton divides into East & West, but remains Barnstaple as far as I can see ....

I think you may have the wrong Pilton.

The Pilton in question is situated between Shepton Mallet and Glastonbury.

looks like it - noticed the other one when I was looking at the census.

You're welcome tho   :)

Shepton Mallet is the Regn District - up to 1936, then Wells.

I did have a good look around - no James Flower (or any Flower) has a PoB of Pilton in any census.

The name is more frequent than you'd think too !

any more clues from later life ?

Thanks for your further investigation.

The info. is from the 1851 Wales census.
He and his family were living in Blaenavon, Mon.
It states:

James Flower  30  Ironstone miner  b. Somerset, Pilton

Hope this helps

Many thanks,
Dave

ah, I had wondered about Wales ...... I'll see if he's there in 1841 too ..... I cant remember if I checked the IGI - have a feeling that the Mormons havent 'done' Pilton tho .....

No obvious sign of that family still in Wales 1861 - no death or remarriage I can see.

will have a deeper delve later !
