Army postings 1911 ?

Where would I look to find someone who is not on the 1911 census- he was  in the army and possibly not in the UK on census day. I am looking for husband and wife,  Robert ( b 1876 ) and Alice Lyon of Chester.
Lyon [Cheshire], Lund[Yorkshire]Dalton,Munnerley,Everard,Merry,[ North West England]

It's also quite possible that where they were living at 1911 has yet to be released.
can you work out where they were likely to be living at that era?
(service record, location of post 1911-births by MMN?)
