DISBROW, Cambridge
« on: Saturday 28 February 09 01:15 GMT (UK) »
I am seeking any information or connections with my several times Great Grandmother, Mary DISBROW. All I know is that she married John EVE in Impington, Cambridge, in 1709 and that their children were born in Chesterton, Cambridge.

I know that there are/were Disbrows out there in Cambridge and in nearby Haddenham so if anyone has any info I would be very grateful to hear it. Equally I would be grateful to hear of the Eve family of Cambridge (principally Chesterton) and of Soham in Cambs.

Welcome to rootschat.

have you looked at the IGI for the births/baptism of you lot?

Go to familysearch , an LDS site, where the IGI is and it's all free to search, parish by parish.

Disbrow is an unusual surname which is good- lucky you.
Good luck and let us know how you get on.

Be careful with Haddenham births on the IGI-for some reason they have a couple of batches listed under Graveley!

Brenda

Yes, those two are mine and were indeed born in Chesterton. I discovered this from local records - by pure luck I live close by and once lived in Chesterton itself, though just as my luck will have it, I left a couple of months before discovering that my roots were in the place!

I can only imagine that Mary Disbrow came from Impington or Histon - hence her marriage in Impington - and it was this which influenced her decision to have her first two children baptised there. They were only a labouring family and in those days of settlement certificates perhaps she wanted her children's security to be rooted in the area of her own family????  :-\

I have identified this lot as being Mary's children:

JOHN EVE 1710 –
WILLIAM EVE 1712 –
ELIZABETH EVE 1714 –
RICHARD EVE 1714 –
JOSEPH EVE 1720 –
JACOB EVE 1722 –
SARAH EVE1724 –
ALICE EVE 1726 –
JAMES EVE 1728 –

Thank you all so much for your advice and help - I'm ever so grateful.
