John did indeed pass away in 1996, Nora (his Mum) passed in 1990. 
I'm not sure how this site works, but if there is some way to chat privately I would give you more info about your relatives.

Hi,
I am John Montgomery Hick's daughter! My dad was born in Liverpool, 1927 to James Montgomery Hick and Nora Long.
I'm 32 years old and I have a sister.  I was SHOCKED to see this as I was just googling my father.  He passed away in 1996, and I was so happy to see this post.  I assume we are related? Can we chat?
