Can you tell me if there are any references to the name WELLS in the burial registered for the 19th to 20th centuries and if there are any Memorial Inscriptions recorded for that name?

Yes, there are a few WELLS burials in St John Sub Castro, Lewes, between 1900 and 1993 as shown below:

Thanks for the quick reply. Daniel Wells (1871) and Hannah Wells (1870) are my direct ancestors.

Can you provide me any more details about these two? Do you know if headstones exist for them?

There is one memorial in the graveyard to the family

Mr James Butland/ 
on November 3rd 1843 aged 72 years/
It lies here food for worms until the last great assize when he will/
gather it up again and reunite it with the immortal part that he has taken to himself/
to dwell in his house for ever and ever/   
                                                       
 
 North Face:                                                                     
Sacred to the memory of/
Mary late wife of James Butland/
of this parish/
who died with the faith and hope of an humble Christain/
on the 3rd day of September 1839/
aged 58 years/
