Toni - if you have found your relatives in the census if you look at the top of the page it usually says what parish the road is in.   I cannot find Highdown Rd on a current map of Lewes.  What dates are you talking about?
Andrea

Highdown road is still there, up past the prison & hospital  behind Neville Road

Ah yes, got it now.  I must have been looking at the wrong bit of the index!    It is quite a way from St John's.
Are they the couple who were living in Mount St Southover in 1901?   My gut feeling is that Highdown Rd will be post 1901 - most of the building out there looks much newer as I drive past.  When did they live there and more to the point when did they die?

Hi all!
I have Carters, Leggatts, and a Gorringe in my tree from Sussex some who go back to 1600's.  Unfortunately, I haven't yet been able to confirm dates etc. as they're from the LDS which can be very wrong at times.  Most of these come from Lewes or surrounding area.  Many thanks to Chris for all this info!

yes they are the people that were living at Mount St Southover in 1901

They were living there in 1930's for sure and also in 1950

i have no idea when they died but i am sure they are not alive aged 126!

my view of the house from outside is a 1930's house.

they would most probably be buried in the cemetary down Winterbourne but i thought i would ask.

I didn't think they might still be alive!   It is just that from Chris' point of view if he has an idea of dates it saves him searching hundreds of years in his index and helps to make sure he finds the right ones - often families use the same names in different generations.  The more information you give the easier it is for him.
