I've just joined RootsCom, hence a late reply to MikeSompting's posting of 19/7/04 regarding Peter Guerin Crofts II.

He had a daughter Eliza Sarah Crofts who married James Ingram of Ades, Chailey, my great great grandfather.  I think that makes us 5th cousins...!

I've recently inherited family tree info so am not totally on top of what I have, but my impression is that you have a fair amount more Crofts info than me, so I certainly would be interested in any Crofts (or collateral) info you have yourself.

On my part, the records I have also run out at John Crofts (ie father of PGC I), with a guess that a forbear was possibly James Crofts of the Duke of Albemarle's regiment, 'a citizen and cordwainer of London', though Heene House is new to me.

The family portrait is mentioned, apparently painted by Zoffany, but I have no more on it than that.  The Saxham Parva connection is also new to me, so a reference to that website would be appreciated (though I'll hunt around anyway).  I also have a little info on the Le Pla/Law/Markham side.

I'm also interested in finding out more, in fact anything, about the family of his wife Sarah Strudwick.

Regards

Hi there

There were some nice monuments to the Croft family, especially Peter G Croft that used to hang on the wall of the old church, but were moved to the new church upon completion in 1839

Outside in the yard are several stone slabs still in situ above the vaults of the old church, all of which are to or connected with the Croft Family.

I have photographs of both the interior and exterior stones if any one wants copies of same - together with full transcription of same.

Chris,

Many many thanks for your reply to my plea. You have already filled in a lot of missing data from the these burials.
I look forward to receiving the baptisms when you have time.
 - the 6 mth wait was worth it and lets face it, these folk have been dead a long time and were not going to run away.

I know it seems like I am requesting quite a few look ups without being able to do any myself but i do try and help on the Buckinghamshire board  especially for Chesham
