:) Chris,  Very impressed with your work on the burials.  I am in Aussie and cannot look physically at the books.  I am researching the following names.  Would it be possible to have a lookup at whatever you can?

The names are: Wicks, Manners, Wood and Page.

Many thanks.      Marie

Hi Marie

I will certainly look through the data bases for your Wood, Wicks, Manners & Page ancestors.

Can you give me an indication of the time period I am looking at and also some possible forenames to go with the surnames above - this then helps me to try and group the results into families

Thanks

Hi there Marie

Have had a quick look to see what kind of coverage the database has on the names you require:

St John Sub Castro – Databases start in 1601

Have checked them for

Burials - 1800 – 1993
Baptisms – 1846 – 1993 ((1846 – 1902) + (1903 – 1993))

Manners
Burials – 4 entries (No Tombstones)
Baptism - Nill

Page
Burials – 35 entries (3 Tombstones with Inscriptions)
Baptism – 38 entries + 25 entries = 63 entries

Wicks
Burials – 7 entries (No Tombstones)
Baptisms – 7 entries + 6 entries = 13 entries

Wood
Burials  - 22 entries (1 Tombstone with Inscription)
Baptisms – 19 entries + 11 entries = 30 entries

Hi Chris
Many many thanks for your excellent pictures & data.  Do you by chance also have the transcriptions of the outdoor graves, or shall I ask the SFHG if they have those?
Best wishes
Mike

Hi Mike

To the best of my knowledge, I am 100% sure that SGHG have not done any transcription work in St John Sub Castro except what was done by Bax, Collingham etc years ago. Their transcription work of a few selected stones is freely available in the Barbican House Museum in Lewes.

I will post my transcriptions as soon as I have had dinner
