Gray m. Cardoo (sp?) AT Dungannon, Searching Marriage.
« on: Friday 27 February 09 00:42 GMT (UK) »
I'm searching for a Robert Gray and his marriage to Jane Cardoo in Mrch/May of 1856, at Dungannon, Co.Tyrone.
Could also be spelt Cardow, and Cardoe.

They later moved to Scotland.
That's all the info I have.

Possibly the date's slightly earlier- have seem this happen with marriage dates taken from Scottish birth certificates.
LDS Pilot site now has index to Irish civil registrations (Catholic marriages from 1864, other marriages from 1845) and only marriage for a Robert Gray that fits is 1854 Dungannon Registration District (vol. 5, page 573). Unfortunately I could find a cross reference with Jane's name to confirm this (suspect spelling of her surname is the problem).

Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Hmm well Robert born 1831 and Jane born 1833.

Their Great Grandaughter was named Jean Curdoe Gray after Jane so there's another possible spelling  ::)

Thanks for the link though, I'll have a quick look now.

Their marriage is said to be 1856 Dungannon - but yours is possibly right, but only two children show up with them in Scotland, and they being born 1867 and 1874 - so quite a gap!

Edit: There is a Jane Cordue marrying in 1852 - obviously not the right one to be mine as it doesn't fit in with Robert Gray, but anotheerrrr spelling  >:(
