As you get into Cornforth, after going under the trestle to the right is a "Carr's Hotel"  that was owned by one of my relatives.

Janis

HELLO
my first post here  :) Carrs Hotel and several in the area was also owned by my Great Uncle Bill (Richardson so maybe the same one?)

I live in Cornforth and went to school with a boy whose surname is Mahon (pronounced hereabouts as 'Marn') so maybe this is the same family just with a variation in spelling as they are a Cornforth family

cheers
Fishburn- Durham, Yorkshire
Richardson- Durham
Douglas- Cumberland, Durham, Sussex

Thank you.

The first, second and third are definitely Mohons from the tree I am researching. They all descends from a family who were started by the marriage of Jane Coats to George Mohon at Kelloe in 1793 and they all lived in Cornforth after the marriage. I'm rather stuck as to where to look next for Jane and George's parents.

Kind regards,

Heatha

Hi
I married a girl named  Mckeag  who's father came from Coxhoe, Co;Durham. Sadly my wife died about 11 years ago but i know the family quite well.  The spelling of Mohon is quite right. His name was Robert (Bob) and he was a jobbing Builder. he has a daughter who will still be alive. her name is Nancy Mohon.

There were two brothers Joe Mckeag, who resided in Back Coronation Terrace, at the bottom of Coxhoe. the other brother was William Mckeag, my father in law.
William Mckeag moved from Coxhoe to Metal Bridge then Later to Spennymoor. William had Three daughters and two Sons.

If you require any other info regarding the above, i will be very pleased to oblige

HI again

I can assure that all the families you are researching are Church of England. Nancy's Mohon  mothers maiden name was Wall.  My mother in law wife of William Mckeag
was her sister.

By the way, i also live in North Yorkshire

Hello again,

I think there must have been two Nancy Mohons !

I am assuming that the lady you are referring to is Jane Elizabeth Wall, who is in the tree I am researching. She married William McKeag in 1926 if I am right.

unsure if this is how to reply however, will give it a go . William Mckeag & Jane Elsebeth Wall were my grandparents
