Hi Cathy

I can find no record of that name being baptised in the parish in 1815.  There are Toll's & one Took marriage but no Torr's. What do you know of John? I live in Bere & have access to records locally at my library as well as having a disc of surrounding parishes. I'll check these out & let you know if I finad anything.

According to 1851 Census it Says John was from Tavistock,,and seen a few of his children listed as TAR on freebmd, their Births
He and His Wife Ann Montrose Green(Family changed it from Graham to Green) also stated she born Tavistock circa 1815 too
The Birth for John was From a Researcher saying he Born in Bere Alston 15 November 1815, dont know how far that from tavistock
His parents possibly a Thomas TORR and Sophia(he had children named these)
So any help would be greatly appreciated

Hi Cathy

Tavistock is about 5 miles away from Bere. Ir takes me about 12 m,inutes to get there.

I looked at all parishes under T & came up with nothing. However there is a Harry Torr baptised in Calstock (across the Tamar in Cornwall) b1872.

I won't be going to the library for a bit with out the kids but I'll keep your details handy for next time I do go. There are other Bere records there.

HI Cathy

Totally forgot to contact you! Anyway. Went & checked to micro fiche for Bere Alston & Tavistock at the weekend & could come up with nothing. I even checked the non conformist churches in Tavi but still nothing (though they were beautifully kept!).

If you have dates for the children & a date of marriage I'll have a look & check for parents names etc on those next time I go down.
