He is my great great great uncle and my grandmother is John Flannerys grandaughter, I hope this makes sense! we knew he was sent to an orphanage and we know his father (john flannery) was in india, but do you have any information about patrick and johns mother who was also in india?

Hi there,
I received very recent news from patrick's grandson. Which of John and Eliza Flannerys children was your ancestor.  Anyway, the parents of John, Patrick, Julia and Wiliam were John and Mary living in Bangalore and he was a Private in H.M.'s 2/10 Regt. Should be easy now to find where in Ireland he was from. All the children were baptised Roman Catholic so probably first generation immigrants.  Hope to get a copy of the marriage certificate of Mary and John. Send me an e-mail adrres and I will send you more info from Patrick's grandson and his wife.

Best Jayne Flannery.

Hi Jayne,

Sorry I haven't been on for a while as we have been doing some home renovations...the information you have found is fantastic!  I would be most happy to see a copy of the marriage certificate, I appreciate the offer.  The only thing of interest that I have been able to find out is that Edith Florence Rose Cook Flannery worked for a Lord Michael in the early 1900's.  My grandmother's notes indicate that Lord Michael's wife was an actress.  I have not been able to find any proof of this however, just a handwritten letter from my grandmother's mother to her sister.  If I find anything else of interest on this, I will most certainly let you know.

You can email me anytime at (*).

Take care,

Christina Cook-Rothbauer

can anyone tell me where this uniform is from?  This is a photo of my great grandfather who served in H.M. 2/10 Regt.  I am most interested in finding out what the number on his collar is referring to (239)? I don't know much about the British Army, but I am guessing his was a foot regiment?
