Good Morning,

It seems w're talking about 2 different men:
- the Wesleyan Lay preacher in Llanbadrig on the 1901 census, married to a Jane, whow was born ca. 1840 and who in my opinion was in Durham in 1881
- a nearly 20 years younger Edward, son of Hugh and Ruth

1861
RG9/4280 37 13
Rhydallt, Denbighshire

Hugh Bowen, head, 49, Labourer, b. Denbigh Ruabon
Ruth, wife, 35, b. Llanidan?
Sarah, dau, 6, b. Ruabon
Edward, son, 3, b. do.
Lewis, son, 5 mo, b. do.

1871
RG10/5652 39 4
Ruabon, Denbighshire

Ruth Bowen, head, 46, no occupation, b. Ruabon
Edward, son, 11, scholar, b. do.
Louis, son, 9, scholar, b. do.
Allen, son, 7, scholar, b. do.
Eliza, dau, 4, scholar, b. do.

Which one are you interested in then?  :)
my aunt is getting the tree together I'm very interested in what they did and the history of Ruabon any old photos i am passing all your wonderful help on to her she has done the other side of the family there are 7000 of them only just starting the bowen side.i hope i can call myself welsh now for the rugby on friday as someone pointed out when i was cheering for wales i don't sound welsh.I lived in aberdare for 14 years and felt i belonged although it was South Wales.

HiAmy

the Blackwell Index is the index of non-conformist registers for Denbighshire.

This is taken from the Clwyd FHS site describing it:

Quote
    * This transcript of the early nonconformist registers for Denbighshire was prepared from microfilm of the original registers held at the National Archives. These registers were called in under the Non-Parochial Register Act of 1840, and were subsequently deposited with the Registrar General. They contain information relating to the period before 1837.

    * The project was organised by Stewart Blackwell, who was one of the founders and first Chairman of Clwyd Family History Society.

    * This CD is dedicated to his memory.
