Hi there,

I am also researching the name McCormack.
I have a Thomas Patrick McCormack b 1817 in Ireland but no place also his father Patrick McCormack b Ireland c1795
Im sure McCormack is a very common Irish name but am interested whenever i come across another person looking for the same name!
My McCormacks moved to Middlesex the first thing i have on them here is a marriage for thomas to a Maria in 1844 westminster.
Im having big problems trying to get them back to Ireland!!

Hey, thanks for your interest.

My McCormack ancestors definately settled in Nottingham with my own branch moving down to Leicester. I do have 3 Thomas McCormacks, however oldest one was born in 1853.
As you rightly state, Irish records are difficult to find, so happy hunting! I wish you luck!
And if I come accross your McCormacks by accident I will obviously let you know.

Regards

Hi

I am a relative of the McCormack family that moved to Leicester from Nottingham

My relative is Martin McCormack (Bricklayer) whose son Thomas was born towards the end of the 19th c to his second wife Eliza (nee Harvey) - I believe that there was also an earlier Thomas who was the son of his first wife. Eliza died in December 1938 and her death was noted to the registrar by another son A J McCormack

I would be particularly interested to learn more about Eliza's Thomas as my family lost touch with him in the 1930's

Hi there,

I'm afraid I don't know much more going forward as my family follows the line from Martin McCormack's first wife.
I have seen Thomas McCormack indexed on the 1911 census (ancestry.com) as Thomas McCormach showing in Leicester if this helps (he appears to be correctly indexed on other sites).
I have details of most of the family including the first Thomas in my research. I have an Alfred James McCormack b1892 in Nottingham, most likely your A J McCormack. I also have images of Thomas' brothers Martin b1893 & Joseph c1900 if you want them.

Hope this helps

Hi

Many thanks for getting back to me.

I think that i have found the pictures that you refer to when I "googled" Martin McCormack Nottingham and found the information that you have posted - but thanks for the offer any way. With out provenance i have placed a question mark against them however. Non the less it is interesting to see what ones ancestors might have looked like. If it is not too personal a question are you able today how you found them?

Also i am new to this sort of thing and am very grateful for your having posted your findings on the internet. I was struggling to find Martin's second wife's maiden name and your research pointed me in the direction of Harvey which has opened a whole new surname to get my teeth into.
